An Evening with the Author

Support One Book, One New Orleans and our goals of literacy and community as we close our 2008 Program with this special event! Tom Piazza reads from and discusses City of Refuge, followed by questions from the audience and a book signing.

Berthe Amoss, renowned author and illustrator, conducts a writing workshop for adults on writing and preparing for publication New Orleans stories intended for young people. SJ’s Hammer: A Day with Habitat for Humanity & Tom Piazza

“Pick Up Where the Book Leaves Off ” by joining author Tom Piazza in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity. Volunteers will receive a signed copy of City of Refuge memorializing their effort in rebuilding New Orleans. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.

Annie’s Home
At locations around Greater New Orleans, children decorate pint-sized milk cartons to create houses, which will be placed together to form a giant New Orleans neighborhood! Children may make an extra house to keep for themselves, of course!

WRBH, Radio for the Blind and Print Handicapped, reads City of Refuge over-the-air beginning Monday, Oct. 20th. The segments will air Monday-Friday, 11-12 noon, with a replay from 10-11 pm.
