- Read the book selection during the reading period this fall
- Attend One Book’s events highlighting the themes of the book in relation to the Greater New Orleans Area community
- Share your experience by discussing the book with family, friends, book club members, etc!

Young Leadership Council Committee Volunteers
- Participate in the book selection process by reviewing book suggestions and engaging in promotional efforts relating to the book suggestion campaign
- Participate in the promotion of the 2008 program on a grass roots and mass market level
- Participate in the planning of events for this year’s program
- Participate in the book distribution process
How you can help the Literacy Alliance
The Literacy Alliance is working to develop a coordinated, well intergrated system of effective, high quality literacy services across the region. What can you do to help?
- Become a volunteer tutor
- Support a family member or friend who wants to continue his or her education
- Develop a partnership with your local learning center
- Invite adult learners to your workplace to learn about jobs and requirements for success
- Sponsor in-kind or underwriting contributions toward literacy activities
- Invest in basic skills training for your entry level employees
- Support your children in their studies so they can stay in school
- Read to your very young children everyday
